Our Story

Established in 2023, Amor Movement was founded by Monica Casillas, who recognized that many young Latinas faced the same challenges she did in high school. Having personally experienced the weight of generational traumas and their impact on growth and potential, Monica was determined to make a difference. Driven by her own experiences and unwavering determination, she set out to create a transformative movement with love as its guiding force.

​​Why Amor Movement? Our name was chosen to represent the merging of two worlds. Amor, meaning love in Spanish, connects us to our homeland or our parents' homeland, while Movement connects us to our new home. We intentionally use Spanglish, reflecting how new generations blend languages, to ensure our cohorts feel a sense of belonging and representation. Lastly, Amor symbolizes the love we pour into our cohorts and the love they share with each other and the community, creating a Movement that continues to grow!

At Amor Movement, we are addressing a critical gap in leadership development for young Latinas, a demographic often overlooked in traditional programs. By empowering these young women with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed, we are not only breaking generational cycles but also shaping the next generation of leaders who will positively impact their communities and beyond. Our cultural focus on life skills, professional growth, and civic engagement sets us apart as a vital force for social change and long-term empowerment. We have created a safe space for young Latinas to embrace their true selves, explore who they want to be, and nurture their dreams. It’s a place where they belong and are celebrated for who they are, both personally and culturally, empowering them to reach their highest potential.
